West Winds returns in 2009 to bring audiences on yet another journey through music. Following last year’s sold out concert – All Things japanese, the group will enthrall audiences with music from the European Continent; the world’s leading centre for the creation and perfoamnce of wind music.

Europe has been synonymous with the works of great composers like Betthoven and Mozart. But little known is that it is also the birthplace of many great wind band work. In this performance West Winds presents some of the best European compositions from Holst’s First Suite in E Flat for Military Band to the renowned music from Miss Saigon.

Conducting the band are guest conductors Mr Jacob de Haan and Dr Lee Tian Tee. Jacob, one of Europe’s most popular composers, will be conducting the band in the performance of his compositions.

Classical and Contemporary Music

The Mutopia Project offers sheet music editions of classical music for free download. These are based on editions in the public domain, and include works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Handel, Mozart, and many others. A team of volunteers are involved in typesetting the music by computer using the LilyPond software. Why not join them?! See the page on how to contribute for more information.

We also host a growing number of modern editions, arrangements and new music. The respective editors, arrangers and composers have chosen to make these works freely available.
